  • This proposed moveable sculpture builds on Wigan's unique “virtual identity” as a place with a pier that could be by the sea. So, what better than a huge sandcastle in the town centre?

Rendering the form in sea green glass links it to the modern architecture of the town. It would be lit at night by storing and releasing the day's sunshine using solar cells.

Decorated with naturally beautiful slices of sea shells, it contains the spiral form of a hermit crab shell, which for those bold enough to venture inside provides a slide.
