Model beach hut for a design competition in Lincolnshire: Bathing Beauties.
The design refers to the conversion of obsolete herring boats into storage sheds, as seen on the North East coast. It also happens to be indicative of the conversion from fishing to tourism as the coastal economic engine. Upended, the hull becomes a gothic arch and links into our architectural heritage too. Curving walls add not only to strength and stiffness but feel cosy - especially when sheltering from a cold wind.
