HOW DID IT WORK? Two things determine horoscopes, one's star sign and the position of the “planet” which has rulership over one's particular sign. The only way a planet can affect events on Earth is by way of its gravity - perhaps in a way similar to how the moon affects the oceans to create tides. Gravity is just a function of mass and distance, so the thousand kilograms of lead in the Destiny Machine created a gravitational force with which to cancel or deflect the influence of the planets. While planets have great masses they are extremely distant. Gravity fades rapidly with distance, which is why the Destiny Machine could provide an equivalent effect when one was very close to it. A movable floor chart allowed one to set the time and date to determine the correct orientation.
